Doubao (豆包) is ByteDance's AI assistant and one of the most widely used chatbots in China. Ask it to plan a trip, explain a concept or draft a post, and back comes a structured mini-essay: headings, bullet lists, numbered steps, follow-up suggestions. That structure is great for skimming — and exhausting to actually read, especially on the fifteenth reply of the evening, each several hundred characters long.
Generic read-aloud extensions treat a chat app like one long article: they start at the top, reading navigation labels and your own earlier prompts before reaching the answer you care about. CastReader takes the opposite approach. It injects a 🔊 Listen button next to each individual Doubao response, parses that reply's custom paragraph divs and list markup, and reads only it — headings and steps in their on-screen order.
