How voice cloning works

  1. 1

    Record a clean sample

Sign in, allow microphone access, choose a passage from 10 languages, and read naturally for 3–30 seconds.

  2. 2

    Confirm ownership

Confirm that the recording is your own voice and that you authorize creation of the private voice clone.

  3. 3

    Create the voice

CastReader builds a reusable private voice prompt and attaches it to your account.

  4. 4

Preview, then choose how to use it

Play the server-set fixed preview after signing in. Pro can apply the voice in Read Aloud and Explain across 10 supported languages for 120 minutes per membership month.

Voice cloning questions

Clear answers about signed-in creation, fixed previews, Pro application minutes, recording, safety, and regional data boundaries.

What can I do with a free account?

After signing in, Free can create, manage, delete, and fixed-preview multiple personal voices. Fixed previews use a server-set script and do not consume the 120-minute allowance. Free cannot apply a clone to arbitrary text, Read Aloud, or Explain.

What does Pro include for personal voices?

Pro can use personal or explicitly authorized voices in Read Aloud and Explain for 120 minutes per membership-month window; the tool shows the service's exact reset date. Accounts in a Pro trial have the same voice-cloning access as other active Pro accounts.

How are the 120 minutes measured?

CastReader counts the actual duration of successfully generated cloned audio. The allowance is not a voice-creation count, text-character count, or playback count.

When do my personal-voice minutes reset?

The tool shows the exact reset date returned by the service for your current allowance cycle. It does not guess a date in the browser.

Do failed requests use my minutes?

No. Failed, cancelled, timed-out, or quality-rejected requests do not use minutes. Idempotent retries are not charged twice, and replaying cached audio does not use minutes again.

How many personal voices can I create?

All signed-in Free and Pro members can create multiple personal voices. Creation is not a Pro benefit and does not consume the 120-minute application allowance; only a concurrent creation task or a technical or recording-quality issue may temporarily prevent a new submission.

What happens when I delete one of my voices?

Deleting removes that voice and its stored reference and revokes related Voice Gifts. It does not affect your other voices or change your ability to create more.

Which languages can the same cloned voice use?

The same voice can be used for English, Chinese, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Russian. Cross-language pronunciation and naturalness vary with the language and recording quality.

Whose voice may I clone?

Only clone your own voice or a voice whose owner has given explicit authorization. For another living person, use the Voice Gift flow so they sign in, record, and authorize access themselves. Posthumous recreation is not supported.

What recording works best?

Record directly through the browser microphone for 3–30 seconds in a quiet room, using a natural pace and the prompt shown in your interface language. CastReader selects or processes a clear segment; 10–20 seconds usually gives a stronger reference.

Can I upload an existing audio recording?

No. The current public tool accepts only a direct microphone recording. It does not provide an upload flow for existing voice files.

How do I delete a cloned voice?

Open the signed-in voice-cloning tool, select the saved voice, and choose Delete voice. This deletes that stored reference and revokes related Voice Gifts without affecting your other voices.

What happens when my 120 minutes are used up?

Your voice and current selection stay saved. CastReader shows that the allowance is exhausted, displays the reset date, and offers a path to choose a standard voice. It does not silently replace your voice or show an upgrade wall to an existing Pro member.

Does a Pro trial include personal-voice use?

Yes. A trialing Pro account has the same personal-voice access as an active paid Pro account, including the 120-minute allowance for Read Aloud and Explain.

Are global and China voice data shared?

No. Global and China users, sign-ins, storage, databases, and compute are fully isolated. Accounts, libraries, voices, and voice data do not sync across regions.

Can I download audio made with my personal voice?

Pro can download successful cloned audio in tools that provide a WAV download or export. The Free fixed preview is for playback only and does not unlock arbitrary-text downloads.

Record a better voice sample

Use a quiet room
Turn off music, fans, and notification sounds. One speaker only.
Keep a natural distance
Place the microphone about 15–25 cm away and avoid touching the device.
Speak naturally
Use your normal pace and tone. Do not whisper, shout, or imitate another person.

Built for your own voice, with clear controls

Voice cloning can be sensitive. CastReader keeps ownership, sharing, revocation, and deletion controls visible.

  • Explicit ownership and consent confirmation before creation
  • Encrypted storage for the reference recording and transcript
  • Only the owner or an authorized, named Voice Gift recipient can use the clone
  • Voice Gifts are limited to personal TTS, expire after 7–90 days, and can be revoked or removed
  • Deleting the cloned voice and stored reference also revokes every Voice Gift
  • Global and China accounts, storage, databases, and compute are fully isolated
  • Posthumous voice recreation is not supported
  • AI-generated audio should be disclosed when context could mislead listeners
  • Read the full safety boundary
