Yes—CastReader can read an authorized, DRM-free PDF, EPUB, DOCX, TXT, Markdown, or HTML file in your private cloned voice. Create the clone, open the file locally in the web reader, select My clone, and listen. For an author manuscript, the Pro export panel generates one book part at a time, merges its verified PCM responses in the browser, and downloads a WAV. It does not import DRM-protected Kindle purchases or promise a one-click finished commercial audiobook.

For personal listening, the useful result is often not a publishable audiobook file. It is a readable document with synchronized playback in a familiar voice. CastReader keeps the book and listening session together instead of forcing an export first.
For authors, revision changes the problem. Re-recording a chapter after every edit is slow, so the web reader exposes bounded part export with progress and resume. The 4,200-character boundary keeps each job recoverable and under the production voice-clone request limit.
A downloaded WAV part is not automatically mastered, chaptered, or licensed for public distribution. Publishing still requires rights to the text and voice, editorial review, audio mastering, disclosure where appropriate, and the destination platform’s requirements.
CastReader only accepts content you are authorized to process. DRM-protected Kindle purchases are not file-import sources for this workflow, and the product does not remove DRM or paywalls.

The local web reader parses the original file in your browser. Text for a cloned-voice generation request is sent to the production speech service only when you ask it to synthesize that selected text.
Yes. After you accept a valid, unexpired Voice Gift, it appears under Shared with me in the web document voice picker. Access is rechecked for every synthesis and ends on expiry, revocation, recipient removal, or deletion of the source voice.
A generated file does not create rights you do not already have. Check the text rights, the voice consent, CastReader’s current plan terms, disclosure duties, and the publisher or distributor requirements before public or commercial use.
