- Is listening free?
Yes — the free tier includes a daily listening allowance on supported pages, with highlighting and auto-scroll where the workflow supports them. Free playback runs up to 1.25× speed; anything faster is Pro, which goes up to 3×. Pro also provides far more listening hours, additional voices, and access for full ebooks and long documents.
- What does Pro unlock?
Far more listening hours, additional premium AI voices, faster playback, higher explanation access, full ebooks and long documents, plus 120 minutes per membership month to use a personal or explicitly authorized voice in Read Aloud and Explain. Trialing Pro accounts receive the same voice-cloning access.
- What can Free and Pro do with a personal voice?
After signing in, Free and Pro members can create multiple personal voices and play each server-set fixed preview. Applying a personal or explicitly authorized voice to arbitrary text, Read Aloud, or Explain requires Pro and shares 120 minutes per membership-month window; the product shows the service's exact reset date. Open voice cloning.
- How are the 120 personal-voice minutes counted?
Only the actual duration of successfully generated cloned audio is counted. Failed, cancelled, timed-out, or quality-rejected requests do not use minutes; idempotent retries and cached replay are not charged twice. The product shows the exact reset date returned by the service.
- What happens when personal-voice minutes run out?
Your voice and current selection remain saved. CastReader shows the reset date and provides a path to choose a standard voice. It does not silently fall back or show an upgrade wall to an existing Pro member.
- Can Free members create multiple voices?
Yes. Every signed-in Free and Pro member can create and fixed-preview multiple voices. Deleting one removes only that voice and its stored reference; creation does not use the 120-minute application allowance.
- How many free explains do I get?
3 per day, resetting every day. The counter shows on the Explain button in the extension.
- How does the 3-day free trial work?
Start Pro and you won't be charged for the first 3 days. Cancel anytime before the trial ends and you pay nothing. After that it renews at your chosen plan.
- Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Open Manage subscription (Stripe) and cancel — you keep Pro until the end of the current billing period, with no further charges.
- Monthly or yearly — what's the difference?
Same features. Yearly is $35.99 (≈ $3/mo, save 40%) vs $4.99/month. You can switch plans anytime — the prorated difference is handled automatically.
- Which devices does it work on?
CastReader is publicly available on iPhone, iPad, Android, Chrome, and Edge. Sign in with the same email to align Pro entitlement across supported surfaces; the download center lists current platform availability.
- Is my payment secure?
Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card details.
- How do I get a refund?
