On a computer, the Chrome or Edge extension works with supported Kindle Cloud Reader pages. On iPhone, iPad or Android, use the Kindle library connection inside the CastReader app.
Sign in to the appropriate Amazon account through the Kindle workflow and open an available book. Make sure the page renders normally. Book and storefront availability can differ from one device or region to another.
Start Read Aloud, choose a voice and follow the highlighted passage. Try a short section before a longer session. Pause for a difficult sentence or use Read & Explain while keeping the source available.

The voice, highlighted passage and page movement work together to help you keep your place. Read in sections and pause when you want to reflect. Choose a pace that lets you follow the written words, especially with unfamiliar vocabulary.
Choose an available voice that matches the book. Listen to how a passage sounds while following its written form. OCR, pronunciation and highlighting vary by language, client and book, so check a short sample before a long session.
Read & Explain can talk through a supported passage in the language you choose. Keep the original in view to compare the explanation with the author’s wording. It is useful for returning to a hard paragraph, not a guarantee that every interpretation is correct.

Use CastReader’s extension with a book that opens at read.amazon.com. The reading workflow works from the page rendered for your account.
IPHONE & IPAD
Use the Kindle source in CastReader’s library on iPhone or iPad. This is a CastReader reading workflow, separate from controls inside Amazon’s native Kindle app.
ANDROID
CastReader for Android includes a Kindle library connection on phones and tablets. Use the account and storefront that hold the books you want to read.
KINDLE E-READERS
CastReader does not install on Kindle e-ink readers. Use Amazon’s available accessibility features on the device, or open the book through a supported CastReader phone or computer workflow.
These options serve different reading needs. Choose the one that works with your book and device.
Assistive Reader and VoiceView availability depends on the device, software, language and title. Check the relevant Kindle settings and Amazon’s current instructions. They are useful options when you want to stay in Amazon’s own reading interface.
Choose CastReader when you want its voice selection, synchronized reading and explanation workflow on a supported page. You need access to the book; CastReader does not supply the title or remove its restrictions.
Audible is a separate audiobook product. CastReader generates speech from supported reading content and does not include an Audible edition or turn a Kindle book into an audiobook download.
Check the Amazon account, storefront and whether that title is available in the selected reader. Owning or borrowing a book does not guarantee that every Kindle surface can open it.
Wait for the page to finish rendering and try a short passage. Kindle pages may require OCR; decorative fonts, illustrations, unusual layouts and language coverage can affect the result. Do not rely on a passage that does not match the source.
The computer instructions here use Kindle Cloud Reader in Chrome or Edge. The CastReader browser extension does not add controls to Amazon’s native desktop app. Open the supported web reading surface to follow this guide.
Yes, but the options depend on the book and device. Amazon offers accessibility features on supported Kindle surfaces. CastReader can read supported Kindle Cloud Reader pages and offers Kindle library workflows in its iPhone, iPad and Android apps.
