Voice Gift lets a living voice owner give one named person private, expiring access to their clone without sharing an account or exposing the voice publicly.
Voice Gift is CastReader’s consent-based way for a living person to share their private cloned voice. The voice owner creates their own clone, names one recipient email, chooses 7, 30, or 90 days, confirms personal text-to-speech use, and copies a private invitation link. The recipient signs in with that exact email and accepts; the voice then appears under Shared with me for short text and authorized document reading. The owner can revoke it, the recipient can remove it, and expiry or source-voice deletion ends access.
The owner and recipient have different controls. CastReader does not ask either person to share an account.

CastReader stores a one-way token digest and a masked recipient email. The complete token travels in the link fragment and is removed from the address bar during acceptance.
The recipient can use the voice for personal TTS while the grant is valid, but cannot transfer the grant or take ownership of the source clone.
These three actions are not equivalent. Use the narrowest one that solves the real need.

The owner signs in, records 3–30 seconds, confirms ownership and consent, and creates the account-bound voice.

The recipient opens the full link, signs in with the selected email, reviews the scope, and accepts. CastReader does not send the email for the owner.
The shared voice appears in short TTS and the document picker while valid. Either side retains an appropriate way to end access.
The emotional request is often simple: let my partner, parent, or another living family member read something when we are apart. The product answer is not to let the listener upload that person’s recording. It is to let the voice owner create and control a narrow invitation from their own account.
A Voice Gift is useful when the words will change. For one fixed greeting, the owner can send a normal recording or a reviewed WAV. For new passages, language practice, or authorized documents, a recipient-bound voice grant avoids repeated recording while preserving an expiry and revocation path.
The grant is for personal text-to-speech. It is not public voice-library placement, account sharing, identity transfer, or permission to impersonate the speaker. The recipient should disclose generated speech whenever context could make a listener believe it is a new recording or live statement from the owner.
Voice Gift is only for a living owner who can actively consent through their account. CastReader does not support posthumous voice recreation and asks users not to upload recordings of a deceased person.
What the owner gives, what the recipient receives, and how access ends.
No. The source clone remains attached to the owner’s account. A valid recipient receives permission to request personal TTS through CastReader; the grant does not transfer ownership or expose the original recording. Generated audio can still be downloaded where the product offers WAV download.
No. Acceptance and synthesis are bound to the one recipient email selected by the owner. The recipient cannot reassign the grant or create another invitation from it.
No. The owner copies the complete private link and sends it through a channel they trust. Do not post the link publicly.
Yes. After acceptance, the voice appears under Shared with me in the web document reader. The recipient must still have the right to process the document, and the grant is rechecked on every cloned-voice request.
No. The current product requires the living voice owner to create their own clone and invitation. Posthumous recreation is not supported; read the full safety boundary.
