Before you press play

Does it work without captions?

This preview translates captions CastReader can read from the video. It does not transcribe videos without captions, and it is not for live streams.

Is this the creator’s own dubbed audio?

No. CastReader reads the translated captions with a synthetic voice. It does not clone the speaker’s voice or lip-sync the video.

Can I use subtitles without narration?

Yes. Translate subtitles and Read translation have separate switches. You can follow the translated text before deciding to listen.

I can see English captions. Why is there no narration?

Caption translation does not start reading automatically. Turn on Read translation and keep the video playing through a captioned section. When watching the recording on this page, use its separate sound button.
