Searching for an ACOTAR audiobook produces several things that look like the same purchase: the original narration, a tenth-anniversary recording, and a dramatized adaptation sold in parts. Start with A Court of Thorns and Roses, book one, then choose the format. “Part 2” of its dramatized edition is not the second novel.
There is also a timely reason to sort out the series: Bloomsbury lists A Court of Splintered Harmony for October 27, 2026. It is an upcoming continuation, not a replacement starting point. You do not need to rush five books to enjoy the first one.

Is this the right series to start?
The first novel follows Feyre, a young huntress whose killing of a wolf takes her into a dangerous faerie world. Romance and the question of whom to trust sit alongside the fantasy setting. GraphicAudio's first-book description provides a short premise and a sample without requiring you to read a sequel's blurb.
Choose it if a central relationship and a gradually introduced fantasy world sound more appealing than beginning with a huge encyclopedia of lore. Preview first if explicit romance, violence, or darker material is a concern; do not assume that the content of every later volume matches the first book. For a spoiler-light start, avoid character relationship charts and sequel summaries.
Three audiobook versions, three buying decisions
| Version of book one | What identifies it | How to decide |
|---|---|---|
| Original narrated audiobook | Jennifer Ikeda, credited on the Audible edition | Start with the sample if you want one narrator carrying the text and character voices. |
| Tenth-anniversary recording | Elizabeth Evans, credited on the Apple Books edition | Compare its sample with the original. It is a new recording of book one, not another sequel. |
| GraphicAudio dramatized adaptation | Full cast, music, and sound effects; book one has two parts | Choose it if an audio-drama presentation appeals to you, and check that you can obtain both parts. |
There is no need to pick a universally “best” narrator. Compare a sample of each version at your usual listening volume, ideally with the headphones you will use. Listen for whether you can follow a change of speaker and whether the presentation stays comfortable during an ordinary task. This is a selection method, not a claim that we have listened to all three in full.
If you want to follow a print or ebook page closely, preview the narrated recordings first. GraphicAudio labels its version a dramatized adaptation; do not expect timestamps or the presentation of narration to map exactly to a different recording.
ACOTAR reading order—and how the audio parts fit
The order below follows Bloomsbury's series listings. The audio-part column comes from GraphicAudio's own series catalogue, checked October 3, 2026.
| Read in this order | Role in your reading plan | GraphicAudio purchase structure |
|---|---|---|
| 1. A Court of Thorns and Roses | Start here | Parts 1 and 2 |
| 2. A Court of Mist and Fury | Next novel | Parts 1 and 2 |
| 3. A Court of Wings and Ruin | Third novel | Parts 1, 2, and 3 |
| 4. A Court of Frost and Starlight | Companion novella between the longer novels | One recording |
| 5. A Court of Silver Flames | Next full-length novel | Parts 1 and 2 |
The practical check is book title first, part number second. Finishing Thorns and Roses, Part 1 of 2 means you still need part two of that same book. Moving directly to Mist and Fury would skip the rest of the first story. Check what a retailer's bundle actually includes before paying twice for overlapping parts.
Bloomsbury currently schedules A Court of Splintered Harmony for October 27, 2026, and A Court of Forgotten Melody for January 12, 2027. These are future releases as of this guide's publication. A novel's publication date does not establish the release date of every narrated or dramatized edition; check the exact audio product separately.
Can you download ACOTAR as an EPUB, PDF, or audio file?
Paid EPUB: Kobo's English ebook lists ISBN 9781619634459, EPUB 3, and Adobe DRM. That is a legitimate ebook purchase, but not a DRM-free file you can open in any EPUB app. We have not verified an official free full-text PDF or EPUB of the novel.
Audio downloads: GraphicAudio's first part lists app/browser playback and optional downloadable formats, including MP3 and M4B. Check the selected purchase option and its price: a download option can be an add-on. An audio file is not an EPUB and does not include the novel's ebook text. For the complete first book, check the matching second part too.
Library access: search your own library's catalogue for the exact title and narrator. Its license may cover a different recording from the one you sampled, and availability or waiting lists can vary. Borrowing is a useful option, but this guide cannot promise that your library has every version.
Keep your place without confusing editions
A useful listening note has three fields: book title, edition or narrator, and chapter or part. Add a timestamp only as a location within that particular recording. A timestamp from Elizabeth Evans's narration should not be treated as a location in GraphicAudio.
If you switch between text and audio, choose a chapter boundary where possible and confirm a short passage yourself. Do not assume that buying two formats creates automatic synchronization. Sample one book before committing to a full-series bundle: you may discover that you prefer a different presentation.
For a compatible, legally obtained DRM-free EPUB, CastReader's EPUB reader offers text-to-speech while you follow your file. Original local files are parsed in the browser. Device voices are free without a CastReader account; AI voices require sign-in and have plan limits. It does not remove DRM from the Kobo edition above, supply the books, or recreate a cast performance. Local EPUB import is available on the web reader and supported mobile apps, not the browser extensions.
If the multiple-format decision is what interests you, our Fourth Wing audiobook comparison explains another case where a narrated book and a dramatized adaptation are sold differently.
