How voice cloning works

Sign in, allow microphone access, choose a passage from 10 languages, and read naturally for 3–30 seconds.

Confirm ownership
Confirm that the recording is your own voice and that you authorize creation of the private voice clone.

CastReader builds a reusable private voice prompt and attaches it to your account.

Is CastReader voice cloning free?
Not in the current phase. The working web voice-cloning flow remains available to eligible signed-in CastReader Pro accounts. Free, first-preview, and no-sign-up rules have not been changed by this launch.
How long should I record my voice?
Record at least 3 seconds and stop whenever the guided passage is complete, with a 30-second maximum. For a stronger reference, aim for about 10–20 seconds of clear, natural speech in a quiet room.
Can I download audio made with my cloned voice?
Yes. The short generator provides WAV playback and download after a successful request. The document workflow can also export one bounded manuscript part as a merged WAV.
Can my cloned voice read a PDF, EPUB, or DOCX?
Yes. Create the voice, open an authorized DRM-free file in the local web reader, and choose My clone. Accepted Voice Gifts appear separately under Shared with me.
Can I clone another person or someone who has died?
Do not upload another person’s recording. A living voice owner can create their own clone and a private Voice Gift for one named recipient. Posthumous voice recreation is not supported; see the safety boundary.

Voice cloning can be sensitive. CastReader keeps ownership, sharing, revocation, and deletion controls visible.
- Explicit ownership and consent confirmation before creation
- Encrypted storage for the reference recording and transcript
- Only the owner or an accepted, named Voice Gift recipient can use the clone
- Voice Gifts are limited to personal TTS, expire after 7–90 days, and can be revoked or removed
- Deleting the cloned voice and stored reference also revokes every Voice Gift
- Posthumous voice recreation is not supported
- AI-generated audio should be disclosed when context could mislead listeners
