WORKED EXAMPLES

Compare the details that change what a sentence means

A condition that changes the meeting place

Original

Wenn es morgen regnet, treffen wir uns nicht am Bahnhof, sondern im Café nebenan.

Saved translation

If it rains tomorrow, we won't meet at the train station, but at the café next door.

What to check in the result

Wenn keeps the “if” condition. Nicht … sondern … rejects the station and replaces it with the café next door. The translation must not turn the café into an additional meeting place.

An original sample passage, translated by the CastReader translation service on 2026-11-04. A new translation may use different wording.

Try “A condition that changes the meeting place” in the example selector above

Rescheduling before and after Wednesday

Original

Sie können den Termin bis Mittwoch kostenlos verschieben. Danach ist eine Änderung nur telefonisch möglich.

Saved translation

You can reschedule the appointment free of charge until Wednesday. After that, changes can only be made by phone.

What to check in the result

Free rescheduling is available until Wednesday. After that, changes require a phone call. The passage does not state what a later change costs, so do not add a fee.

Read the German source

Keep the full clause, including verbs near its end. Preserve compound nouns and capitalization so the translator can distinguish nouns and formal Sie.

Review the English result

Check articles, singular/plural forms and added pronouns. English may need an explicit subject that was only implied in the original.

Listen in English

Listen for sentence stress and contractions. A slower voice can help separate “I’ll”, “I’d” and “I’ve”, but pronunciation alone does not establish meaning.

Before you begin

How do I translate German to English and hear it?

This page starts with German as the source and English as the target. Paste text or try the example, then translate. Press Read translation after the result appears. Translation and playback are separate actions.

Why is English reading unavailable on my device?

Reading uses voices supplied by your device. Without a matching English voice exposed to the browser, the reading button is disabled. Translation and copying remain available. You may need to reopen the page after installing a voice.

Can I translate English back into German?

After translating, swap to use the English result as the new original, or open the reverse-direction page. Back-translation helps compare wording but does not prove the first translation is correct.
