WORKED EXAMPLES

Compare the details that change what a sentence means

A condition that changes the meeting place

Original

Si llueve mañana, no nos vemos en la estación, sino en la cafetería de al lado.

Saved translation

If it rains tomorrow, we won’t meet at the station, but at the café next door.

What to check in the result

Si without an accent means “if.” No … sino … changes the plan from the station to the café next door. Check both the rain condition and the rejected location before listening.

Try “A condition that changes the meeting place” in the example selector above

Free admission that still needs a booking

Original

Aunque la entrada es gratuita, hay que reservar con antelación. Los niños menores de seis años deben ir acompañados de un adulto.

Saved translation

Although admission is free, you must book in advance. Children under six must be accompanied by an adult.

What to check in the result

Free entry does not remove the booking requirement. “Under six” excludes children who are already six; the adult-accompaniment condition applies to that younger group.

Read the Spanish source

Keep accents and full verb forms: sí and si have different meanings. Verb endings may identify the speaker even when a subject pronoun is absent.

Review the English result

Check articles, singular/plural forms and added pronouns. English may need an explicit subject that was only implied in the original.

Listen in English

Listen for sentence stress and contractions. A slower voice can help separate “I’ll”, “I’d” and “I’ve”, but pronunciation alone does not establish meaning.

Before you begin

How do I translate Spanish to English and hear it?

This page starts with Spanish as the source and English as the target. Paste text or try the example, then translate. Press Read translation after the result appears. Translation and playback are separate actions.

Why is English reading unavailable on my device?

Reading uses voices supplied by your device. Without a matching English voice exposed to the browser, the reading button is disabled. Translation and copying remain available. You may need to reopen the page after installing a voice.

Can I translate English back into Spanish?

After translating, swap to use the English result as the new original, or open the reverse-direction page. Back-translation helps compare wording but does not prove the first translation is correct.
